WAEC Should Arrest Its Corrupt Members Than Seizing Results — EAI

WAEC MUST ARREST ITS STAFF MEMBERS, INVIGILATORS AND SUPERVISORS THAN WITHHOLDING AND CANCELLING THE RESULTS — Educate Africa Institute (EAI).

The policy think tank organization, Educate Africa Institute, has advised the West African Examination Council (WAEC) that, they must with immediate effect, arrest their own officers; invigilators and supervisors who are culprits of the examination malpractice, after thorough investigation proofs them guilty and stop withholding and cancelling exams results.

With reference to the just released 2020 WASSCE results, dated 13th of November, 2020. 2,383 candidates exams has been annulled because, they entered the exams hall with foreign materials. 480 candidates also had theirs annulled for they entered the hall with mobile phones. And then 384 results has been withheld for investigation.

Last year 2019, WAEC withheld 48,855(14.12%) candidates results on the same malpractices case for investigation but the outcome is still in camera.

The claims, to Educate Africa Institute, clearly indicate that WAEC is always aware that some contractors like invigilators, supervisors and other stakeholders like MoE, GES, GPS, External supervisors may be tempted to leak questions or allow students cheat before or during the examinations.

WAEC must therefore, release all results and rather apprehend the contractors and the stakeholders who supervised that shady work. Because, records show that, WAEC is just interested in walking over some students future and is not ready to seal the loop holes to ensure professional examination conduct in the country.

Naturally, every candidate finds means of passing his/her exams and when a contractor fails to do a good work, the hatchet must be carried by the contractor but not the candidate.
Don’t blame the students, but blame the officers in charged because no student is decent during exams of this nature.

Recommendations
1. Our education needs more practical approach. Enough of the air-talk.
2. WAEC must pay invigilators and supervisors well.
3. WAEC must replace their operation lines with dent measures and even organize work shops and seminars.
4. WAEC must declare their incredibility to pave way for a competent examination body to help them regain their credibility.

Educate Africa Institute is only interested in achieving the best for the country as a whole, the country’s only source of credible educational policies and analysis.
