MEET THE AFRICAN CHANGE MAKER

Okonkwo Kenneth Chukwuebuka is an award winning Agripreneur and an Advocate of Sustainable Development.

He has over 3 years experience working on developmental projects that focus on Poverty alleviation and livelihoods improvement of smallholder farmers Nigeria through which he has trained and empowered over 2,500 women, youths and children with sustainable, innovative and climate smart agricultural practices as a means for them to combat hunger, alleviate poverty, create employment opportunities and improve their livelihoods.

 

Kenneth is a graduate of Federal University of Technology Owerri, where he studied Soil science and Technology. His passion and drive to see Poverty and hunger to be reduced in Africa inspired him to Co-Found Agrohive; a social enterprise that fosters the development and productivity of underserved rural youths, women, children and farmers in rural communities by providing them with access to modern agricultural technologies, improved farm inputs, advanced agricultural extension services and access to market information and credits. These services have so far impacted over 3,000 farmers in various states across Nigeria to increase their productivity while also raising their household income.

 

Kenneth is a 2019 Carrington Youth Fellow of the United States Consulate in Lagos, Nigeria, where he works with the Economic Empowerment team to create and implement projects and programs that will alleviate Nigerian from poverty. He is also a ONE Champion under the ONE Advocacy Program, where he engages with key poly makers and the government to secure policy changes and public investments to address extreme poverty in Nigeria. As a champion of Food security in Africa, Kenneth was selected as a 2019 Thought for Food (TFF) West Africa Ambassador, where he engages the public and private sectors to develop innovative solutions that will foster food security in Africa.

Kenneth is also a change maker at the African Leadership Institute under the Youth Representation and Inclusion Project (Pakati) to drive youth inclusion and representation at all civil society and political processes. He was selected in 2018 as a TEDX Johannesburg 100 millennial African Change Maker with the responsibility to create and apply ideas that will respond to Humanity’s most pressing challenges in Africa, as defined by the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

 

 

As a 2019 young Innovation Leaders fellow, he is working with the ICT4agric Team to develop innovative solution that will enhance the adoption and use of ICT to improve agricultural Productivity in Africa.
