Nigerian Government To Recruit 1st Class, 2nd Class Upper Graduates As Teachers

In a recent development, the Federal Government of Nigeria through its Ministry of Education has revealed that it is set to employ first class and second class upper graduates as teachers.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Sonny Echono, made this known on Saturday, the 14th day of November 2020, in Abuja – the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) while monitoring the conduct of the 2020 October Diet Batch B Teachers’ Professional Qualifying Examinations, (PQE).

Sonny Echono also said that teachers without requisite qualifications, competencies and practicing license are presently migrating out of the Nigerian Teaching Service.

In the exact words of Sonny Echono;

“By 2021, we will not engage teachers if they don’t meet particular threshold.

“We are now limiting entry point of teaching only to the best who are qualified.

“We will engage individuals with second class upper and first class divisions.”
