How to Deal with Stress, Worry and Anxiety Effectively – Part 4 of 4
Today we will look at the structure of how thought is
represented in our nervous system
When you change that structure, you change how you feel
When something happens out there
Thoughts appear in the mind
You have a representation of what the situation is
and what it means!
This representation is either seen (visual), heard
(auditory) or felt (kinaesthetic) and usually a mixture of all

You see
– a framed, live/panoramic picture
– high or low brightness
– black or white colour
– close or far picture
– you are in it or you see it from afar
– clear or fuzzy
You hear
– high or low volume
– high or low pitch
– direction of sound
– high or low tempo
– regular or irregular rhythm
– duration of sound
– inside you or outside you
You feel
– high or low temperature
– fast or slow movement
– high or low pressure
– smooth or rough feeling
– hard or soft
These are examples of ingredients of a representation
the brain constructs
When you identify the representation of the feeling you are having now
e.g. anxiety, worry, stress, guilt, regret or depression
Amend that structure!
