In a recent press release from the Registrar of Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), J.U. Nnabuihe, the institution officially announced the suspension of the Certificate Processing Fee.
What led to the current decision seems to be the public outcry by undergraduates and graduates of the great citadel of higher learning.
It was disclosed that the processing fee for FUTO certificates initially, was the total amount of N200 (Two hundred Naira) only, before it skyrocketed to N20,000 (Twenty thousand Naira). Read the full story here»»».
Meanwhile, on the latest report, the Registrar of the University announced the suspension of the processing fee for certificate.
The announcement was made via the institution’s Facebook page (FUTO Owerri), and it reads;
PRESS RELEASE… SUSPENSION OF CERTIFICATE PROCESSING FEE
Following representations on the issue of Certificate Processing Fee, the FUTO Management at its 51st Extra-Ordinary Meeting held on Thursday, August 13, 2020, decided to suspend the introduction of enhanced security features on our degree certificates as well as the introduction of Certificate Processing Fee.
This will allow ample time for consultation with all relevant stakeholders.
