Eyeglass on Obafemi Awolowo’s statue, missing (Photos)

In a recent trending story on different social media platforms, suspected hoodlums are said to have defaced the statue of late Nigerian statesman, Obafemi Awolowo located in Ikeja area of Lagos State, Nigeria.

The hoodlums who were on rampage in the state, removed the statue’s iconic glasses amid attack on some of Nigeria’s symbols of history.

The exact time and date of the theft is however yet to be ascertained. Similarly, the monument of Nnamdi Azikwe in Anambra state had also been attacked by hoodlums last week.

The Awolowo statue was erected during the administration of ex-governor of Lagos, Akinwumi Ambode, in recognition of the late former nationalist’s contribution to the country’s democracy.
