The need to stand firm, the passion to succeed and the zeal to stand at the leading edge is the driving force of Excellence Excellence is therefore the quality of being extremely good. As a Nigerian student in the field of Academics, there is a need to excel. And this brought about what scholars called “ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE.”
Now, Academic Excellence is the quality of being extremely good in your learning field. In recent times, Academic Excellence has been the paramount concern of an average African child. Triggered with the passion to succeed, he develops some antics in other to reach to his desired goals. But the question here is *”Is this measures enough to fit in to that which he desires?”*
As a passionate fellow, there are things needed for you to fit in to being excellent in academics. One of them is *”DETERMINATION.”*
I define it as being Strong willed. In everything you do, never you let the light of determination to leave you. Another promoting factor is “BURNING THE MIDNIGHT CANDLE.”
In this process, there are strategies to implore and they are as follows;
- Making Research.
- Solving questions.
- Bringing out your own questions and providing answers to them.
I will bet you, majority of African students, Nigerians in particular, don’t know the difference between Reading and Studying. If you happen to be one of them, make some research as that will trigger your hunger for knowledge. There are many steps you need in fitting in to being Excellent but there is one which unlocks them and that is “TEACHING OTHERS.”
This has been the reason behind the success of many great scholars whom I tag “Scholars of Success.” Being a part of this team, I learnt that to teach is to learn twice. It is in this process of impacting knowledge to others that questions you can’t figure out will come to you. Likewise Insight and every other thing you need to practice in other to excel.
Sadly, there are some students practices which stands as a giant deteriorating menace in excelling in Academics. Here are some of them;
- Campus marriage.
As a candidate of Excellence, the day you said yes to any of the aforementioned, is the day you said “NO” to Academic Excellence. As they will bring you in the *limelight fallacy* that *Education is not the key to success. With these, I plead to all students to give in to Academic Excellence, as this will give rise to the improvement and betterment of lives in our society at large.
